"I Am Not A Hipster" was shot in San Diego by SDSU grads and focuses on the San Diego indie music scene. The film has its official San Diego premiere on Friday at 6pm and 9pm with a musical performance at 8pmat the Museum of Photographic Arts.

Destin Cretton is no stranger to Sundance. In 2009, he walked away with the Jury Prize for his short film, "Short Term 12." In January, his first feature film, "I Am Not A Hispter" was selected as part of Sundance's Next program. The film created some buzz at the festival and the filmmakers are now trying to self-distribute the film.

The film focuses on a young singer-songwriter who has grown apathetic and is struggling to come to terms with his growing fame and his art. When his dad and three sisters show up to spread his mother's ashes, he's reminded of the part of himself he left back in Ohio and is forced to deal with the person he's become. "I Am Not A Hipster" is based in San Diego's indie music and art scene, and features original song performances. It also explores what it means to be creative in the face of tragedy.

Joel P. West, of The Tree Ring, created the band Canines for the film and wrote the songs performed in the movie.

Producer Ron Najor has just launched a Kickstarter online fundraiser to help get funds for distributing and promoting the film.
