Whether it be the Harry Potter or the Twilight series of fantasy books, you have to wonder: where do these kinds of authors come up with their ideas?
A new genre of fantasy writing is gaining popularity—where authors are using crafts such as needlepoint as a sort of hook for the plot of their stories.
Cheryl Potter didn't have to look far for an idea for her fantasy trilogy. The renowned fiber artist combined her love for yarn, knitting and writing into the book, "The Broken Circle: Yarns of the Knitting Witches."
Potter is bringing her expertise in fiber and her love for fantasy writing to San Diego. She'll be teaching writing classes to fourth, fifth and sixth graders, helping them tap into their own imagination of storytelling while at the same time encouraging them to readand write and introduce them to crafts.
