California Congressman John Garamendi , a member of the House Armed Services Committee, today issued this statement following the release of a Pentagon report revealing that 70 percent of active-duty military believe allowing gay and lesbian soldiers to openly serve would have little or no negative impact on military cohesion:

Back in May, the House of Representatives, by a 234-194 margin, voted to end "Don't Ask, Don't Tell." Congressman Garamendi voted in favor of the legislation.

A big decision awaits some voters this July as the race for San Diego County’s Supervisor District 1 seat heats up. Are you ready to vote? Check out the KPBS Voter Hub to learn about the candidates, the key issues the board is facing and how you can make your voice heard.
