A ceremony at the Air Ground Combat Center Marine base in Twentynine Palms was held this morning to debut a state-of-the-art "mock city" roughly equivalent in size to downtown San Diego that was constructed to practice and refine the complex and dangerous combat tactics Marines use while deployed to urban settings around the world, according to the Marine Corps.
The "mock city" has all the trappings of a real city, including shops, schools, and hotels. The place is also cram-packed with great hiding place for Marines to search for, and roughly 1,900 feet of underground tunnels.
