But what about those of us on the home front? Our nation has been at war for almost a decade, and yet how does that fact impact our day-to-day lives? USA Today writer Rick Hampson is asking these questions in a piece called "How will years of war change us?" Hampson reminds his readers of how anti-German sentiment pervaded the United States during World War I (like calling Sauerkraut "liberty cabbage"), and also of the nation's unrest during the Vietnam War.
