Arizona Senator and former GOP presidential candidate John McCain spoke plainly today (as he was once known to do regularly), and blasted the folks who claim information gained through torture helped nab Osama bin Laden. If anyone is an expert on torture, it would be McCain, who suffered unspeakable acts performed by his North Vietnamese captors while imprisoned in the infamous Hanoi Hilton.
The Los Angeles Times reports that today McCain spoke on the Senate floor to refute rumors that the name of the courier who lead the Navy SEALS to Osama bin Laden's compound was learned through so-called "enhanced interrogation techniques" like waterboarding. McCain cried foul:
I wonder how many of us would support torture (which many former interrogators have said doesn't work) if we ourselves had been tortured like John McCain?
