The USS Ronald Reagan, so beloved in Japan for the humanitarian aid the crew helped provide as part of Operation Tomodachi, is now in the Arabian Sea providing support for Operation Enduring Freedom. Today the Navy released this photograph of an F/A-18E Super Hornet taking off from the deck of the Reagan.
According to the Navy, the Super Hornet is assigned to the Argonauts of Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 147. Although the Navy holds dear the phrase "loose lips sink ships," it has provided this information on the Reagan's activities:
The USS Ronald Reagan is currently based out of San Diego, but that will soon change. The Navy announced in January of this year that the Reagan's new home port will be Bremerton, Washington as of January 2012.
