TRICARE Investigates Patient Info Breach

TRICARE is investigating a major data breach that put the the personal health information of almost 5 million TRICARE recipients at peril. The info was made vulnerable when tapes with patientsโ€™ electronic health care information were lost. TRICARE contractor Science Applications International Corp. reported the data breach in mid-September.

TRICARE spokesman Austin Camacho said the breach could have affected patients who visited San Antonio, Texas military hospitals and clinics at anytime between 1992 and September 2011.
