TRICARE is investigating a major data breach that put the the personal health information of almost 5 million TRICARE recipients at peril. The info was made vulnerable when tapes with patientsโ electronic health care information were lost. TRICARE contractor Science Applications International Corp. reported the data breach in mid-September.
TRICARE spokesman Austin Camacho said the breach could have affected patients who visited San Antonio, Texas military hospitals and clinics at anytime between 1992 and September 2011.
