The Navy is looking into what could have caused one of its F/A-18D jets to crash Friday into a Virginia Beach apartment complex.
There were no deaths due to Friday's crash, which the Navy calling a "catastrophic failure" of the aircraft.
The F/A-18D was assigned to Strike Fighter Squadron 106 at Naval Air Station Oceana, according to the Department of Defense.
The Navy is crediting "everyday citizens" for being the real heroes during Friday's calamity, by pulling neighbors from burning buildings and preventing what could been tragic loss of life.
