The U.S. military continues to sift through evidence to find out if 12 American service members deserve disciplinary action for their role in the Secret Service prostitution scandal in Columbia, according to CNN.
The 12 service members in questions belong to the Army, Air Force, Navy, and Marine Corps. As Home Post reported in April, the Marines and Sailors implicated in the scandal are based in San Diego.
CNN reports the different services all did their own investigations, then reported their findings to Gen. Douglas Fraser, the commanding general of Southern Command. It is Fraiser who will make the final decision as to whether the service members will be punished.
According to a Southern Command statement:
"Gen. Fraser is also carefully reviewing the information and is required by law to consider numerous factors to include the nature of the offenses, any mitigating or extenuating circumstances, the character and military service of the suspects and the recommendations of subordinate commanders. The goal is a disposition that is warranted, based on admissible evidence, just, appropriate and fair."
