Skydiving Congressman Wants To Raise Money For Military Families

It's a bird! It's a plane! No, actually, it's South Carolina Rep. Joe Wilson - that is, if his plan to skydive Friday evening goes off as planned.

Wilson is jumping out of a plane to raise money for military families, according to USA Today:

The event is part of the "Salute our Troops" campaign that has raised $1.5 million this summer, and $5.67 million since 2011, to support military families.

The 66-year-old Wilson will tandem jump with U.S. Army veteran Mike Elliott, who has performed tandem jumps twice with former President George H.W. Bush.

For folks not from South Carolina, Wilson may best be known as the Congressman who yelled, "You lie!" during President Obama's State of the Union address in 2009. Saturday Night Live did a hilarious skit marking that unusual point in history. I've posted it below, courtesy of Hulu:
