It's Veterans Day, and it may surprise you to learn that these ten famous rock stars, actors, and politicians all served in the military. Here are the remaining five:
No word if Bob Ross considered serving in the military a happy accident, but “The Joy of Painting” star spent 20 years in the U.S. Air Force.
Before Ice-T became Ice-T, he was Tracy Marrow, a young father without direction. He later told NPR, “[W]hen I had my daughter I was like, man, I’m going to go to jail, I got to do something, and I went to an enlistment office.” Marrow ended up serving four years in the U.S. Army.
A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away (actually, Great Britain), Alec Guinness (a.k.a Obi-Wan Kenobi) served in the Royal Navy during World War II.
“Star Wars: Episode VII” and “Girls” cast member Adam Driver is a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. The Daily Mail quotes Driver as saying, “September 11 happened and all my friends were like ‘Let’s join the military!’ and I was the only one who actually did.” Lance Cpl. Driver spent two years in the Marines before being medically discharged.
James Marshall Hendrix enlisted in the U.S. Army on May 31, 1961 and spent just one year in the service. He was honorably discharged after injuring his ankle during a parachute jump. Maybe he was distracted kissing the sky?
