Before Ice-T became Ice-T, he was Tracy Marrow, a young father without direction. He later told NPR, “[W]hen I had my daughter I was like, man, I’m going to go to jail, I got to do something, and I went to an enlistment office.” Marrow ended up serving four years in the U.S. Army.

Driver spent two years in the Marines before being medically discharged.
James Marshall Hendrix enlisted in the U.S. Army on May 31, 1961 and spent just one year in the service. He was honorably discharged after injuring his ankle during a parachute jump. Maybe he was distracted kissing the sky?
