Officials Defend Police Response to VT Shootings

In the days after the Virginia Tech massacre, the actions of the university's police force have come in for criticism. Most of the questioning has centered on the first shooting, and the two-hour gap between it and the second shooting.

Officials have rebutted the criticism, saying the campus police — with a force of more than 30 full-time officers — had done a valiant job considering the circumstances.
