Furthermore, why is it that even gas stations in the poorest of neighborhoods now have televisions at the pump?
Is this the gas companies flaunting all those extra profits that we are being forced to take? Or is it, in reality, a distraction to lull the American consumer into a false sense of security as we are forced to take higher and higher prices?
In the end, San Diego will be hit the hardest. Our public transit has been so neutered by budget cuts that it is, in effect, a joke. It is mandatory to have a car in this county, and gas companies know it. As such, gas prices here are even HIGHER than in Hawaii, a series of islands in the middle of the ocean! Is this right? & How on earth can gas companies justify this?
But, in the end, there is very little you can do, short of converting your car to electric. And even THAT plan was cut short when politicians here in California were bought out by big oil companies! No, we must look to our elected officials to finally stand up to this monopoly that is crippling not just San Diego, but all of America. &
America runs on gasoline. Be it the semi bringing you your groceries, the plane taking you to that business meeting, or even the motorcades that elected officials use to go from place to place. We need to either SERIOUSLY look into alternatives to our dependence on oil, or we need to do something about the price of a rapidly depleting non-renewable source of fuel. &
Personally, I'd far prefer the former to the latter due to oil's growing scarcity. & But, I doubt this will happen. At least not until the oil wells dry up. Then, 'magically' a new way to fuel all the cars will come out, once again brought to you by the oil companies.
And the process will begin all over again. At least, that's how I see it going down unless someone running for office finally stands up and screams, "ENOUGH!" And if someone finally makes alternative fuels a REAL platform that they run on, that person will get MY vote. &
