Water restrictions in Oceanside have been lifted, city officials announced today.
The San Diego County Water Authority Board of Directors last week voted to resume delivering normal amounts of water to local agencies, like the city of Oceanside. Gov. Jerry Brown previously announced that the drought was over.
"The residents and businesses did a tremendous job saving water over the last two years," said Cari Dale, the director of the city's Water
Utilities Department. "By working together to save water, we reduced our water use by more than 13 percent."
The city implemented mandatory restrictions on July 1, 2009, with a goal of cutting back by 10 percent.
City officials hope residents and businesses will still conserve water, since 85 percent is imported. Tips for saving water are online at savewateroceanside.com.
