From the bombastic and epic, to the folky and mystical, Get The Led Out (GTLO) have captured the essence of the recorded music of Led Zeppelin and brought it to the concert stage. The Philadelphia-based group consists of six veteran musicians intent on delivering Led Zeppelin live, like you’ve never heard before. Utilizing the multi-instrumentalists at their disposal, GTLO re-create the songs in all their depth and glory with the studio overdubs that Zeppelin themselves never performed. In this six week workshop, students will expand upon what they have learned about the key components of novel writing. The focus of this workshop will be on character development, scene building, narrative structure and the process of writing a first draft. Participants will be encouraged to submit a chapter of their work for peer review. Previous Novel Writing Certificate classes are recommended as a prerequisite. Based on a proposal by Supervisors Paloma Aguirre and Terra Lawson- Remer, the board directed the chief administrative officer to send a letter to the U.S. Department of Agriculture administrator calling "for the immediate release of the (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) contingency reserves and use of existing federal transfer authority to sustain food benefits for families during the federal shutdown," along with waiving a required timeline for reviewing the letter.

The poet should develop a strategy of revision. Often the good poem is attained through rigorous revision of the original draft. We will examine different approaches to revision as well as the more esoteric poem-making tools and types of poems and their uses and effects. In this session we will begin discussion of the structure of published books of poetry. Objectives: Upon completion of this workshop, you will have: Explored different revision techniques and how they match your writing style. Identified the importance of poem titles. Considered the nature of “truth” in contemporary poetry. Discussed the history of “deep image.” Explored different types of poems. Read and analyzed two poetry books. Assignments: Each participant will choose one book of poetry and one poetry craft book and submit, by week 5, a one to two page analysis of the book and its value, or not, to the individual’s poetry writing. Poem prompts will be given each week with the anticipation that the participants will generate new work. Participants are expected to actively participate in the read and critique portions of the workshop.
