In tribute to the 403 fallen 9/11 heroes—343 FDNY, 23 NYPD, and 37 Port Authority—participants climb 110 flights of stairs, the same number as in the Twin Towers, each bearing the name of an Emergency Responder lost on that day. Set against the stunning waterfront backdrop of the Hilton San Diego Bayfront, proud hosting sponsor, the event offers a moving space for reflection and remembrance. World Bee Day is held in recognition of the role bees play in sustaining a healthy ecosystem, ensuring our food supply and ultimately the future of humanity. The purpose of our event is to raise awareness of the vital importance of bees and all pollinators, the threats they face and actions every individual can take to protect them.
