The La Jolla Playhouse presents the Pulitzer Prize-winning drama RUINED. The play, set in Africa, tells the stories of men and women whose lives have been scarred by the degradation of civil war. We'll speak with the director of the Playhouse production, Liesl Tommy.

Acclaimed opera soprano Joan Sutherland died yesterday at age 83. Sutherland performed with the San Diego Opera throughout the 1970s and 80s.

This year's Carlsbad Music Festival continues to draw young and talented composers and musicians to their alternative classical music festival. Joining us for a performance is the festival's founding ensemble-in-residence, the Calder Quartet. We'll also hear from the winner of this year's composers competition, Kate Moore.
