This remarkable journey underscores the inherent challenges that accompany our evolution, ultimately leading to a complete and awe-inspiring rebirth as a butterfly. In this soul-searching book arts workshop, we will engage in introspective guided writing prompts and indulgent improvisation to transform the enigmatic shifts in our lives into a book structure, handcrafted from a single sheet of paper. These creations will unfold like butterfly wings illustrated with found-imagery collage and text. By attuning to our hearts and quieting our minds, these collaged books will help us make sense of our life experiences. This process will enable us to explore new poetic avenues and gain fresh creative insights. Collage is a calming and meditative practice, suitable for all skill levels. From 6-8:30 p.m., with the last class of the series from 6-9 p.m. Tuesdays, January 7, 14, 21, 28 & February 11 In this 5-week series, students will learn the basics of handbuilding to create functional pieces with an emphasis on decorative techniques. Working with mid fire clay, we will explore various methods of building forms and decorative techniques with underglazes and slips. Students will complete multiple projects throughout the course while applying handmade stencils and layering techniques with colorful patterns as well textured colorful designs using the sgraffito technique. Students will be able to utilize a wide array of glazes and colors through the course. All materials provided.   • Absolute Beginner Crochet: Getting Starting! Choose from 2 upcoming series: Dec 5, 12, 19 & Jan 7, 14, 21 from 6-8 p.m. In this crochet workshop, students will learn the fundamental skills of crochet, including starting a project, basic stitches, and tying off. This three-week course will allow students to learn the basics, practice at home, and then return with their questions and learn more. No experience necessary. Students are welcome to bring their own yarn and/or hook, but it is not necessary. We will be using size 4 yarn and between 4.00mm and 6.00mm crochet hooks. You don’t have to bring your own supplies but you are welcome to. All materials included.
