Shelter to Soldier, in proud partnership with Foundation for Women Warriors, is excited to announce its third annual Sisterhood of Service event, presented by L’Auberge Del Mar. Taking place on Thursday, May 15, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the beautiful L’Auberge Del Mar (1540 Camino Del Mar, Del Mar, CA 92014), this event is a heartfelt celebration recognizing the strength, resilience, and service of women veterans and active-duty military women. Created to foster connection, empowerment, and community, Sisterhood of Service provides a welcoming space for women who have served, and continue to serve, our country. The day will begin with an all-levels yoga session, followed by refreshments, networking opportunities, and access to resources tailored to the needs of women veterans. Attendees will also enjoy a catered lunch, hear from an inspirational guest speaker, and participate in an interactive goal-setting workshop. Admission is free for women veterans and active-duty military members, but an RSVP is required. About Shelter to Soldier: Shelter to Soldier is a nonprofit organization that adopts dogs from local shelters and trains them to become service dogs for post 9/11 veterans suffering from PTSD, TBI, Military Sexual Trauma, and or other injuries associated with traumatic service experiences. The program also places emotional support animals (ESAs) with active-duty military and veterans, as well as deploys the Shelter to Soldier Canine Ambassadors, a team of therapy dogs and their volunteer handlers, to provide visits of love and comfort to local military, veterans, and their families. Exhibit highlights: 19 habitats with animals such as frogs, hedgehogs, snakes, and more! Up to three daily interactive presentations led by wildlife educators, highlighting various survival strategies through tangible examples. Direct interaction with animals! Come scrub a tortoise’s shell or feel a gecko’s smooth scales in this one-of-a-kind, hands-on exhibit. Maple the sloth, Iggy the iguana, Aphrodite the boa constrictor, and 20 other live animals have come crawling into the Fleet to teach you how their assumed disadvantages are, in fact, secret superpowers. From Maple’s life in the trees to Iggy’s camouflage coat, "Survival of the Slowest" challenges you to rethink who is really the strongest in the wild.
