Learn to Warp & Weave! May 25 or July 19, from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. (with a 1 hour lunch break) Learn the ancient fiber craft of weaving your own fabric using a Rigid Heddle Loom and natural fibers. In her hands-on workshop, Weaver & Dyer Jeanine Ertl will teach you everything you need to know to warp and weave on your own. This class is perfect for anyone who’s been curious about weaving beyond a lap loom and wants to learn the warping and weaving processes. We’ll dive into fiber & fabric and demystify the process of getting set up (otherwise known as warping a loom), weaving, and finally, finishing and removing a woven fiber good from the loom! And, you’ll go home with handwoven fabric in-hand. Length of the final piece will depend on the individual’s own pace. In this workshop you’ll learn how: a rigid heddle loom works; to plan a textile (e.g. sett, basic pattern & choosing fiber, etc.); to warp a rigid heddle; to weave; to remove your handwoven; and to finish a textile. With a goal of providing important and useful information on special education law and practice, the University of San Diego School of Law offers its Special Education Law and Advocacy Series (SELAS). This specialized program not only educates participants about the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and other related laws and includes an in-depth look at Regional Center services, it also offers practical tips for special education advocacy. Past participants have included parents of children with disabilities, professionals working in related fields, school district staff, related services providers (such as speech and language pathologists), attorneys, and others. The series includes six seminars, which may be taken individually or as a complete program. The seminars are taught by experienced special education attorneys as well as a licensed clinical psychologist. No textbook is required and each seminar includes electronic handouts. A “Certificate of Completion” will be given to all enrollees who complete all six seminars in person or by Zoom. **Viewing the recording alone will not qualify for certification. Let your child’s imagination soar in this exciting four-week creative writing and publishing workshop. Young Writers Ink: Word Magic + Publishing blends playful creativity with real-world writing skills. Young writers (ages 10–13) will experiment with poetry, short stories, creative nonfiction, hybrid writing, and mixed media in a fun, supportive environment. Each session begins with a quick unjournaling warm-up, followed by short pieces of poetry or prose, hands-on creative activities, and time to develop longer pieces. Along the way, students will learn how to polish their work and submit to real contests and anthologies, building confidence and pride in their voices.
