Cindy Lee Berryhill is a California native singer-songwriter, a founder of the New York Antifolk (acoustic punk) movement, and was welcomed into the San Diego Music Hall of Fame in 2024. She has recorded seven albums and is working on her eighth with the same highly-accomplished musicians who will be performing with her at this San Diego Folk Heritage show (Willie Aron, John Kruth, and Renata Bratt). Cindy Lee has toured and performed shows over the years with The Smithereens, Richard Thompson, The Indigo Girls, X, and more. As Spider Robinson explained, “Cindy Lee writes and sings of some of life’s greatest losses and hardest earned gains with terrifying honesty and the courage of an adventurist who survived her adventures.” Los Angeles-based duo Thee Holy Brothers, comprised of Marvin Etzioni, a Grammy-winning producer, and Willie Aron, an in-demand session musician and award-winning songwriter. They were friends for decades before a rabbi at their synagogue saw them dressed in suits and hats and dubbed them “the holy brothers.” After changing “the” to “Thee,” they recorded their debut concept album, "My Name Is Sparkle," whose main character travels to Jerusalem to find God but finds Elvis instead. With twelve solo albums to his credit, John Kruth is a singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist/composer who plays mandolin, guitar, banjo, flute, harmonica, and sitar. John currently leads the six-piece New York based chamber/rock ensemble The Folklorkestra. As a sideman, John has jammed with Laurie Anderson, Violent Femmes, John Prine, King Missile, Hal Willner, Patti Smith, Allen Ginsberg, Elizabeth Swados, Sam Shepard, and Ornette Coleman. Scott, award-winning concert organist and Director of Music & Organist at Grace-St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Memphis, Tennessee. About the Musician: Dr. Scott is recognized as one of the prominent organists of his generation having won both the first prize and the audience prize in the American Guild of Organists’ National Competition in Organ Improvisation held at the AGO National Convention in Boston in 2014. At the same convention, he was also awarded second prize in the Schoenstein Hymn-Playing Competition. In 2016, he was named one of the top 20 leaders and organists under the age of 30 by The Diapason magazine. He is Director of Music & Organist at Grace-St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in the heart of Midtown Memphis, Tennessee. There, he serves as the Artistic Director for the Memphis Boy & Girl Choir, provides music for chapel services for the Grace-St. Luke’s School, plans an annual music concert series, and leads a program supporting multiple choirs including a chorister program affiliated with the Royal School of Church Music. Through the power of Chicana and Chicano Art, "The Many Worlds and Identities of Guadalupe" explores Guadalupe as an embodiment of these worlds in an attempt to better understand Chicana/o culture and identity in our contemporary world Alberto López Pulido is the founding chair of the Department of Ethnic Studies at the University of San Diego, where he has taught since 2003. A native of San Diego’s South Bay, his upbringing between borders shaped his fronterizo perspective. He began his education at Southwestern College before earning degrees in Sociology and Chicano Studies from UC San Diego. He later completed graduate studies at the University of Notre Dame under the mentorship of Dr. Julian Samora. Pulido’s research explores the intersection of Chicana/o/x communities, spirituality, and cultural expression. His award-winning work on Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Logan Heights is among his important works of scholarship. About the Artists Lexi Pulido is a boundary-pushing vocalist, composer, guitarist, teacher, and more - known for blending experimental jazz, bossa nova, and theatrical alt-pop. Through projects like the avant-jazz quintet Kilikili, the internationally acclaimed Kate Bush tribute band Baby Bushka, and the genre-blurring Nu Moods jam series, she’s helped shape San Diego’s creative music scene while fostering community through her studio space, Tenam Studio. Hailey Wetzel is a folky, soulful, and jazz-tinged songwriter whose music blends heartfelt storytelling with rich, timeless melodies. Inspired by artists like Alice Phoebe Lou, Olivia Dean, and Maggie Rogers, her sound carries an honest warmth and rhythmic ease. After a cross-country move, she’s spent the past two years rooted in San Diego, becoming an active voice in the local music community. With a voice that feels both intimate and expansive, Hailey crafts songs that linger—emotive, melodic, and deeply human. Claire King is a San Diego based singer-songwriter and spoken word performer whose music draws influence from the folk revival of the 1960s and 70s, indie folk, jazz, and soul. Her sound is infused with the characteristics of artists like Jim Croce, Labbi Siffre, the Fleet Foxes, and Norah Jones. With poetic and whimsical lyrics, much of Claire’s music centers around her connection to nature, architecture, and personal experiences in love and mental health. Resonance is a free, all-ages event hosted by St. Brigid’s Episcopal Church and Oceanside Theatre Company, that builds community through creative expression. Held in OTC's Studio 219 (219 North Coast Highway), this is a space for all creatively-inclined people — artists, musicians, writers, and more — to showcase their work and to practice spontaneous creation together. It’s not quite an open mic, jam session, drum circle, or art night — but it has elements of all of these. All are welcome to participate as much or as little as they choose. Join the Library for an afternoon of opera as soprano Gabriella Rodmac takes the stage for "The Girl from the West." She'll be accompanied by Michele Scanlon in a performance featuring Spanish boleros, "West Side Story" highlights and some Italian favorites. Doors open at 12:45 p.m. About Gabriella Rodmac Born in San Diego, California and raised also in Tijuana, Mexico. Gabriella began her musical journey at a very young age performing at school concerts and as a member of the local church choir. She studied classical singing at the Conservatorio de la OBC in Tijuana after which she enrolled as a Dramatic Arts major and music minor at Mesa College in San Diego. Gabriella continued her theatrical studies in Madrid, Spain at the Escuela Superior de Artes y Espectaculos. In 2010 Gabriella performed the role of Carmen in a production of Bizet's opera at Festival De Opera en la Calle with Opera de Tijuana. She continued her collaboration with them until 2012 including the role of Lola in "Cavalleria Rusticana." After obtaining her Bachelor’s in Classical Singing at Scuola di Musica Claudio Abbado in Milan she went on to debut her first operatic role in a production of Mozart's "Don Giovanni" at Teatro Giuseppe Verdi in Busseto, Italy, where she went back to perform the role of Kate Pinkerton in "Puccini's Madama Butterfly." She was Tosca in a concert form production of "Puccini's Opera" at Teatro Gatto in Switzerland and reprised the role of Donna Elvira in a production of "Don Giovanni" in Varese, Italy. She was Maria in a Scuola Civica Claudio Abbado's production of "West Side Story" and reprised the role in two other occasions in the city of Milan. She recently performed the roles of La Fata Turchina and La Volpe in a production of Natalia Valli's "Pinocchio" and Serafina in Opera Italia’s production of "Donizetti’s Il Campanello" in Los Angeles. She currently trains and performs in Italy where she also resides. Gabriella is currently on her second consecutive season on the 2024-2025 Singer Roster at Teatro Lirico Sperimentale di Spoleto, one of Italy’s most important opera companies and an official member of the historical choir Corale Monzese in Italy. Gabriella is known for the warmth and roundness of her voice as well as for the extended range and versatility. Her recent collaboration with the city of Coronado brought about the sold out concert: "Le Stagioni dell'Amore (The Season's of Love)." Gabriella has sung at numerous prestigious venues including but not limited to Vigorelli Stadium in Milan, Italy where she was invited to sing the US National Anthem in collaboration with the U.S Consulate of Milan, at the XXV Italian Super Bowl.
