The Most Haunted House in America, The Whaley House While the story of the Whaley House’s origins may seem as simple and innocent as any family history, the truth is, many believed this home was destined to be haunted before it was even built. The property was the site of one of the town’s most famous public executions – that of the hanging of the infamous thief James “Yankee Jim” Robinson. The Whaley House, designated as a museum in 1960, is located in Old Town San Diego, California’s Oldest Town. Designed and built by Thomas Whaley, known to be the first two-story brick-constructed property in California back in 1857, it is a beautiful example of Greek Revival architecture and is furnished with curated historical items and original family owned treasures. The Whaley House also served as San Diego’s first commercial theater, a general store and the second County Courthouse. Worldwide known as the Most Haunted House in America, it is recognized for its historical significance in Old Town San Diego. The Whaley House Evening Guided Tour is rated PG-13. Scott Terrell, conductor San Diego Symphony Orchestra The San Diego Symphony Orchestra will present Disney's "Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas" Live-to-Film featuring a screening of Disney’s timeless holiday classic with GRAMMY®-winning composer Danny Elfman’s musical score performed live to the film. The concert will be led by conductor Scott Terrell. Based on an original poem and characters created by Tim Burton, the film was first released in 1993 as "The Nightmare Before Christmas." Directed by Henry Selick (James and the Giant Peach), the film follows the earnest-but-misguided adventures of Jack Skellington, Halloween Town's beloved Pumpkin King. Bored with the same old scare-and-scream routine of Halloween, Jack longs to try something new. Convinced that he can spread the joy of Christmas and against the advice of Sally, a caring and clever ragdoll, Jack enlists three mischievous trick-or-treaters – Lock, Shock, and Barrel – to kidnap Santa Claus. Hundreds of people will rally to support people living with ALS at the 2025 Walk To Defeat ALS San Diego on October 5 at the Mission Bay - De Anza Cove. Registration for the 2025 Walk to Defeat ALS is now open. Every 90 minutes, someone is diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a progressive neurodegenerative disease affecting nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. ALS robs people of the ability to walk, talk and eventually breathe. Through an extensive network, the ALS Association is on the ground in all 50 states providing support for people living with ALS and their loved ones by ensuring they have access to critical care programs and services. Walk to Defeat ALS is the world’s largest signature event focused on supporting people living with ALS and their families. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the annual Walk to Defeat ALS. Through Walk to Defeat ALS fundraising efforts, the ALS Association has been able to dramatically accelerate the fight against ALS by funding the development of new ALS treatments, by discovering new ALS genes, by creating new global research collaborations, and by significantly expanding access to ALS care.
