Tierrasanta Lutheran Church is hosting a community Christmas celebration that features a live nativity village complete with sheep, goats, a donkey, and a camel. The free event takes place at Tierrasanta Lutheran Church, 11240 Clairemont Mesa Blvd., on December 7, 2024 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and the public is welcome. Guests can grab a cup of hot cocoa, decorate their own Christmas cookies, meet Bible-era characters, and sing along to familiar Christmas carols. Crafts for kids and Christmas-card-worthy photo opps make this family-friendly event a great way to welcome the holiday season. From 6-8:30 p.m., with the last class of the series from 6-9 p.m. In this 4-week class, instructor Lydia Kardos will teach the basics of handbuilding to create functional and sculptural ceramics. Working with mid fire clay, we will explore various methods of building forms and decorative techniques with glazes. Students will complete various projects throughout the course, learning the basics of clay materials and handbuilding — skills necessary to work independently in open studio. Students will be able to utilize a wide array of glazes and colors. All materials provided.
