  • Learn to make a basket made from long leaf pine needles, using waxed Irish linen, an assortment of beads or other embellishments, starting with a stone center. Topics to be covered include the differences between pine needle types, preparing the needles, waxed Irish linen, basket centers, embellishing your basket, and how to start and how to finish your basket. Students have the option to weave a basket, a pendant, or an ornament. Basketweaving is a wonderful way to recycle from nature and is also a meditative activity. No experience necessary. Wheel throwing is a fun process that allows you to make mugs, cups, bowls, and lots of utilitarian objects. Whether you are new to throwing on the wheel or have some experience, you’ll enjoy this class. 5 weeks gives you even more time to practice centering the clay and raising those walls! This class will use mid-fire clay, so after being fired, your work will last for years and years. We will focus on wedging, centering, throwing, trimming and glazing.
