TERI Campus of Life, whose mission is to change the way the world sees, helps, and empowers individuals with special needs, is thrilled to announce that AMERICAN IDOL contender and indie rock sensation, Adin Boyer, along with special guests Jungle Poppins, will perform live at their Rock the Spectrum Benefit Concert. This event will take place on Dec. 29, 2023 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at TERI’s San Marcos Campus of Life (Cornfeather Suite/Mountain View Deck, 555 Deer Springs Rd, San Marcos, CA 92069). All proceeds will benefit TERI Campus of Life programs and services for children, adults, and seniors with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Guests will experience a magical evening of music under the stars as they bid farewell to 2023, celebrating with the talented pianist and San Diego's own Jungle Poppins. Both gifted artists credit autism as their catalyst to excellence and are geared up to “Rock the Spectrum.” Adin, an exceptional musician and advocate for Autism and Anti-Bullying, will open hearts with soulful melodies while Jungle Poppins vows to "let music upstage autism." In 2023, Adin wowed audiences on American Idol, advancing to Hollywood and earning accolades from industry icons Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, and mentor Phillip Phillips. TERI is honored to host Adin in his first San Diego show prior to launching his national tour. Tickets to the concert start at $25 for general admission and $50 for VIP. This webinar will address mid-scale composting for farms and ranches with moderate quantities of organic materials including manure, crop residue, and food scraps. Improper disposal of organic waste can lead to pest problems, create health issues for livestock, and contaminate local water sources. Adding compost to your soil conserves water, mitigates erosion, sequesters carbon, and can help your plants thrive. For Healthy Soils Program awardees, making your own compost allows for better on-site nutrient cycling and a finished product tailored to your needs. What is an Aerated Static Pile (ASP)? ASPs offer a simple and cost-effective method for composting organic materials. These contained systems force air through the compost pile, encouraging rapid decomposition without laborious turning while achieving temperatures needed for safe, weed-free compost. The system we will discuss is perfect for a small amount of livestock (for instance, one to ten horses) and small- to medium-sized farms or orchards. Come join us as we virtually visit Solana Center’s site in Encinitas and other successful examples of ASP composting throughout the San Diego region. We’ll discuss how Solana Center has integrated ASP systems into our community composting program to enable safe and efficient composting of food waste from over 100 local households into a high-quality soil amendment. This webinar will be held using Zoom, so please note that you will need to have the Zoom application installed on your device (computer, smartphone, or tablet) to attend and participate. Freddie’s Place Announces “Freddie’s Christmas Wish” Donation Drive for Shelter & Rescue Pets, along with a new Pet Ambulance & Transport Vehicle The funny little dog with the plush red ball & huge heart for his community is at it again! Freddie’s Place Animal Hospital + Urgent Care, in partnership with their sister charitable organization “A Favor for Freddie,” is rolling out a Nationwide Holiday Initiative to provide animals in shelters or rescues a brighter and Merrier Christmas. With more than 2 million animals in shelters at any time, and untold amounts with rescue organizations, Freddie’s Place has a very special ask from San Diego Pet families & people across the nation that love animals. “Freddie’s Christmas Wish” is a donation driven event requesting for blankets, treats, toys, & pet food from the community at large. Donations will be accepted at the Freddie’s Place Vista location thru December 30th. Several times during the month, the Freddie’s Place “Best Care Anywhere Team” will also be out and about at “Stuff the Ambulance” events. The more donations received, the more shelter and rescue pets have a toy, treat, or warm blanket to celebrate Christmas. To further clarity, the Best Care Anywhere Team at Freddie’s Place indicated “No donation is too small for this event. It’s a great way for anyone in our community to help these forgotten animals in need with whatever sized donation they can afford.” Since both of Freddie’s organizations have such a large network of friends reaching across the nation, they are welcoming anyone outside of the San Diego area to join in on this great cause by donating directly to a shelter or rescue of their choice near their home.
