Through presentations and panel discussions, the Conference hopes to engage the community and promote comics as a medium for learning. Join us on Wednesday for Teaching and Learning with Comics: An Interactive Workshop This is a hands-on workshop for anyone looking to use comics in a classroom. Peter Carlson (Green Dot Public Schools), Susan Kirtley (Portland State University), and Antero Garcia (Stanford University) guide educators in curating powerful classroom curricula, from mini-lessons to complete units, that incorporate the medium of comics. Participants engage in activities that model how to develop superhero readers and writers in K–12 classrooms. Comic-Con badge-holders with valid single same-day or four-day badges are welcome to attend and are not required to register.
