As the founder and frontman for the group The Miracles, becoming Smokey Robinson & The Miracles in 1965, Robinson was the chief songwriter and producer of their 22 albums and smash top ten hits such as, "You've Really Got a Hold on Me,” "Mickey's Monkey,” "I Second That Emotion,” "Baby Baby Don't Cry" and the group's only number-one hit during their Robinson years, "The Tears of a Clown.” In 1972 he focused his full attention to helping run Motown Records, retiring in 1988. In early 2023 he wrote, recorded and released his first album in almost a decade, called Gasms. Robinson’s vocal mastery is known and loved by many across nearly four generations.
