  • There are many ways of dyeing with indigo, but its magic can be experienced in its most direct way by simply using fresh indigo leaves, water, and air! This workshop is a unique opportunity to work with indigo from the “ground up” and understand the beautiful chemistry of indigo and create a beautiful silk scarf in the setting it was grown. This workshop is held at an off-site location, at the inspirational Ranchito Milkyway farm in Bonita. This class is appropriate for ages 12+ years old or 8+yrs with an accompanying adult. We will start with a walk in the forest, collecting edible plants that we will use to create a variety of wild-inspired, tasty bites. Together, we will make manzanita wildfire crackers, wild spinach pesto, and ricotta cheese. We will also make white fir-citrus chutney and sweet and savory pine nuts, all of which will pair nicely with our manzanita mint tea.
