  • The Navy’s 38th Annual Bay Bridge Run/Walk is hosted by the Navy Region Southwest Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Program. The unique 4-mile run/walk has a one-of-a-kind spectacular panoramic view as participants make their way to Coronado’s beautiful Tidelands Park from downtown San Diego over the Coronado Bay Bridge. During the finish line celebration, runners receive a Finisher’s medal, event T-shirt, and enjoy sponsor booths. Plus, all participants are eligible for drawing prizes and complimentary transportation back to downtown. This is a sanctioned USAT&F 4-mile course. Our start line is at One Park Blvd. at Harbor Dr. between the Hilton San Diego Bayfront and the San Diego Convention Center. The course travels south along Harbor Dr. to Cesar E. Chavez Pkwy. Participants head east to National Ave., then up and over the Coronado Bay Bridge. The race finishes in Coronado’s Tidelands Park. Expect flat streets, an incline up the bridge and a decline down the bridge. Walkers are encouraged to bring cameras to take some great photos of San Diego and Coronado from on top of the bridge! Baby strollers, wheelchairs and guide dogs are permitted. Skateboards, bikes, in-line skates, race wheelchairs and pets (with the exception of service animals) are prohibited. All participants must be on the bridge by 8:45 a.m., approximately 1 mile, to allow for the reopening of traffic lanes.   • Searching for a partner can be horrifically painful. But board games are always awesome. So what if you combined board games and finding a partner? Picture this: You sit down for a night of games. A gaming concierge walks you through several games over the course of the night. You play classics you love and discover brand new games you've never heard of, playing each with a different group of fun singles. All while in a great establishment with plenty of delicious options on tap. At the end of the night, you give your gaming concierge a list of the folks you met that you'd like to date and a list of those you met that you'd like to just hang out with as friends. If any two people put down the same name as each other in either column, then your gaming concierge will make sure you get each other's e-mail address and you can coordinate a time to hang out. Best case scenario: You find true love, discover some awesome board games, and make some new friends. Bad case scenario: You accomplish only one of those three things, which is still pretty great. But we thought we should cover this in case it came up. 5) How many games we have and which ones we use will be based in part on how many people attend, so we can't tell you for sure what we'll have right now. But the goal is for all of them to be fun, light, easy-to-learn games. Selection will include games from both the something-you-have-played-before category and the something-you-haven't-played-before category. The games are also chosen because they often tend to spark conversation and leave room for chatting with new people as you play. All games will be group games, meaning you'll get a chance to meet a handful of people with each new round.

PCSC’s annual fundraiser, Summer Celebration proceeds will go toward enhancing PCSC Aging in Place programs and services for older adults. Thank you for considering donating to the Peninsula Community Senior Center for the Opportunity Drawing and Silent Auction. Donations such as gift cards, coupons, gift baskets and merchandise are always appreciated by our guests. This year’s event, Summer Celebration, will include a delicious luncheon, entertainment, door prizes, an Opportunity Drawing, Live and Silent Auctions and Vendor Fair at All Souls’ Episcopal Church’s Gooden Hall and Patio. PCSC’s mission is to provide a support system that helps older adults remain independent and in their own homes for as long as possible. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to improving the quality of life of older adults in the Peninsula Communities of Point Loma, Ocean Beach and the Midway-Sports Arena District of San Diego. We support this underserved population by providing transportation services, activities in our Senior Lounge and hosting excursions throughout San Diego.   • In this class, we will draw from classical and modern art masters who worked on toned paper. You will learn how to use the tone of the paper plus white to create dynamic and expressive drawings. This course will sharpen your skills in rendering form, value, and texture. Basic composition, anatomy, and perspective will also be taught. Materials: You do not need everything on this list. Buy only the medium or supplies you want to work with. Pan Pastel: black and white, two triangle-shaped wands, one for each. Charcoal: Black or Sanguine charcoal pencils such as General’s 2B and 4B; compressed charcoal sticks or a small stick of soft vine charcoal. General’s White Charcoal Pencil (extra—General’s White Drawing stick, White Conte Crayon, or White Nu Pastel). Blending stump, small and medium; sharpener and/or craft knife and sanding pad. Kneaded eraser, Tombow MONO zero Eraser (extra—White Vinyl Eraser, Faber-Castell Perfection Eraser #7056 and 7058). Drawing Pad or individual sheets 11” x 14” or 18” x 24”; Strathmore 400 Series toned grey or newsprint.
