  • The nonprofit group One Acre Fund wants smallholder farms to grow more, earn more and feed more people. The organization just won a $2.5 million award from the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation.
  • Coronado Public Library, in partnership with Warwick's bookstore, will host author Luis Alberto Urrea as he discusses and signs his new book, "Good Night, Irene".A Pulitzer Prize finalist for his landmark work of nonfiction "The Devil's Highway," now in its 30th paperback printing, Urrea is the author of numerous other works of nonfiction, poetry, and fiction, including the national bestsellers "The Hummingbird's Daughter" and "The House of Broken Angels," a National Book Critics Circle Award finalist. A recipient of an American Academy of Arts and Letters Award, among many other honors, he lives outside Chicago and teaches at the University of Illinois, Chicago.This event is free and open to the public. Hailed as the foremost jazz violinist of her generation, Regina Carter’s quest for beauty combined with her passion for excellence did not escape the attention of the MacArthur Foundation, which awarded her a prestigious “genius grant” fellowship. She is also a recipient of a Doris Duke Artist Award, has been named an NEA Jazz Master, and is a three-time Pulitzer Prize jurist. She tours worldwide with her own group and has appeared with such performers as Wynton Marsalis, Kenny Barron, Ray Brown, Mary J.
