When a police officer is found dead in her home with a bullet between her eyes, who investigates?

Both Ciara Estrada and her boyfriend were San Diego police officers. They went with friends to a New Year’s Eve party. Pictures from that night show the smiling couple. The next day, Ciara was dead … discovered on her bathroom floor with her gun in her lap.

Her own department investigated the death and quickly ruled it a suicide. Investigators, who were her colleagues, made no arrests. Identified no suspects.

But her family says there’s more to her story – tragic circumstances that should have prompted a more thorough investigation. They don’t think the police dug deep enough into the death of one of their own.

Explore surface design marbling & diffusion! Tuesdays, January 6, 13, 20, 28 & February 10, from 6-8:30 p.m., with last class in the series from 6-9 p.m. Ages 16+ welcome! In this 5-week series, students create functional pieces with an emphasis on decorative techniques for surface design. We will explore colorful marbling techniques and mocha diffusion, in addition to marbling with slips and glazes. Working with mid fire clay, students will complete multiple projects and will be able to utilize a wide array of glazes and colors throughout the course. Beginning and more advanced students will learn the basics of handbuilding to create pieces that we’ll utilize the skills on that we explore in class. Projects will be ready to pick up 3-4 weeks after the last class. Materials fee $30 paid to instructor. Explore ceramic handbuilding & funky glazes! Mondays, January 5, 12, 19, 26, February 9, from 6-8:30 p.m., with the last class of the series from 6-9 p.m. Ages 15+ welcome! In this 5-week series, students will learn the basics of handbuilding to create functional pieces with an emphasis on decorative techniques. Working with mid fire clay, we will explore various methods of building forms and decorative techniques with underglazes, slips, glaze, and various experimental materials. Students will complete multiple projects throughout the course with an artistic and creative approach to decorative designs. Inspired by printmaking, painting and drawing, we will explore image transfers, mark making, layering, stencils, and more! Through the use of technique and materials, students will explore the fusion of 2D art and 3D form. Students will be able to utilize a wide array of glazes and colors through the course. The instructor will have a wide array of custom decorative materials for use and sale. Projects will be ready to pick up 3-4 weeks after the last class. All materials provided. Additional materials available via the instructor for a fee.
