THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION is a new six-part, twelve-hour series. It tells the story of America’s founding struggle, the men and women of the Revolutionary generation, and the crisis that they lived through. THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION premieres nationwide on Sunday, November 16 and airs for six consecutive nights through Friday, November 21 at 8 -10 p.m. on KPBS TV.
  • Create a unique Bandsaw Box! Sunday, December 21, from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Bandsaw boxes are beginner-friendly and have a variety of uses. Once you make one you can make many! In this 7-hour workshop, students will create a box made from a single block of wood using the bandsaw. Students will learn to design and create organic forms on the bandsaw while observing wood grain and learning to make cross cuts and rip cuts. We will cover shop safety and methods for cutting and gluing your box. Students will also learn sanding best practices and how to achieve a perfect finish using beeswax. We welcome all makers, from beginners to advanced. Materials are provided. We recommend students bring your own eye protection, ear protection & apron. Aprons for sale here. No experience necessary.   • Learn Plain Weave, Clasped Weft & Hemstitching! Saturday, December 6, from 2-5 p.m. Have you wanted to dive into the mindful, rhythmic, magic of weaving? In this rigid heddle loom workshop, students will learn to weave their own unique handwoven fabric in both plain weave (a classic, simple pattern) and clasped weft (where two wefts interconnect, creating unique patterns). Each student will learn the basics of how the loom works, a variety of simple weaving techniques, plain weave, clasped weft weaving, and finally, hemstitching for a finished piece. Students will weave a length of handwoven fabric of their choosing using the techniques in-class. Looms will be pre-warped in this class and students will weave together on Ashford Looms with 100% cotton fiber for a fiber-friendly afternoon. Beginners, as well as those with weaving experience are welcome. No experience necessary.
