  • The Greater San Diego Chamber Orchestra, directed by Dr. Angela Yeung, presents a concert honoring the Saints and the faithful departed in anticipation of All Saints and All Souls Days. The program includes Boyce's "Ode for St. Cecilia’s Day," Charpentier's "Pour un reposoir," Borodin's "Au Couvent," Ravel's "Le Tombeau de Couperin" and Pavane "pour une infante défunte." Soprano Emily Ortlieb will perform "Pie Jesu" by Lili Boulanger, and the aria “The Field of the Dead” from Prokofiev's film score for the historical drama, "Alexander Nevsky." On view at the Gordon Gray Gallery from July 31 through August 24, the "Reflections" showcase features artwork by many of this year’s "Reflections" participants. This group of lifelong learners explored a variety of techniques and media, drawing inspiration from works in MCASD’s permanent collection and special exhibitions. About "Reflections" "Reflections" is an art-making workshop series designed for adults aged 55 and over. From August 2024 to July 2025, participants joined MCASD Educators to tour the galleries, engage in lively discussions, and create original artworks inspired by what they saw. The program fosters a welcoming space for critical thinking, learning, exploration, and creativity. "Reflections" is generously supported by the C.J. & Dot Stafford Memorial Trust, E.A.
