The City Nature Challenge is a global event where cities around the world compete to document as many species as possible in their urban areas. During this event, you'll learn how to collect essential species information by documenting plants and animals using the iNaturalist app on your smartphone. Your data collection will make a big difference by contributing to local and statewide conservation efforts. * Take a tour and guided nature walk led by our knowledgeable docents. * Finally, pitch in to help protect this rare habitat by removing invasive, non-native plants, repairing the protective sand fence, and removing trash. Join us on June 28 from 8 a.m. - 11 a.m. at Forester Creek in Santee for our monthly community river clean-up! Come work outdoors with like-minded members of the community to help remove thousands of pounds of trash in just three hours! Each year, San Diego River Park Foundation volunteers remove more than 200,000 pounds of trash from our namesake waterway. Without our amazing volunteers, this trash would be left to pollute native animal habitats, parks and public spaces, leach contaminants into the water, and wash out into our ocean and beaches!
