  • The trademark sound of Russell Hitchcock's soaring tenor voice and Graham Russell's simple yet majestic songs created a unique sound that would forever be known as Air Supply. However, it is the live shows that always hold audiences captive around the world. They were the first Western group to tour China, Taiwan, and countless other countries that before would not allow pop music across their borders. In 1983 they recorded "Making Love Out Of Nothing At All" by Jim Steinman which solidified the group as a permanent force in modern music. This song was released on The Greatest Hits album which soared past 7 million copies. "Lost in Love", "All Out of Love", "The One That You Love", "Sweet Dreams", and "Making Love Out Of Nothing At All" have each achieved multi-million plays on the radio. About "Resurrection Walk" | Defense attorney Mickey Haller is back, taking the long-shot cases, where the chances of winning are one in a million. After getting a wrongfully convicted man out of prison, he is inundated with pleas from incarcerated people claiming innocence. He enlists his half brother, retired LAPD Detective Harry Bosch, to weed through the letters, knowing most claims will be false. Bosch pulls a needle from the haystack: a woman in prison for killing her husband, a sheriff's deputy, but who still maintains her innocence. Bosch reviews the case and sees elements that don't add up, and a sheriff's department intent on bringing quick justice in the killing of one of its own. Now Haller has an uphill battle in court, a David fighting Goliaths to vindicate his client. The path for both lawyer and investigator is fraught with danger from those who don't want the case reopened and will stop at nothing to keep the Haller-Bosch dream team from finding the truth. Packed with intrigue and courtroom drama, Resurrection Walk shows once again that Michael Connelly is "the most consistently superior living crime fiction author" (South Florida Sun Sentinel). Michael Connelly is the author of 38 previous novels, including #1 New York Times bestsellers Desert Star, The Dark Hours, and The Law of Innocence. His books, which include the Harry Bosch series, the Lincoln Lawyer series, and the Renée Ballard series, have sold more than 85 million copies worldwide. Connelly is a former newspaper reporter who has won numerous awards for his journalism and his novels. He is the executive producer of three television series: Bosch; Bosch: Legacy; and The Lincoln Lawyer. He spends his time in California and Florida.
  • From the gallery: San Diego, California- Madison Gallery announces D I S T A N C E, French artist Cédrix Crespel’s first solo US exhibition. A stunning and ethereal representation of love in landscapes, of love in our surroundings, of love outside the physical beings. The use of bold, yet soft, colors, Crespel captures the desire and vulnerability of passion from afar. The feeling of endless depth, of dynamic distance, of eternal love and longing. “To face it, to get lost in it and to surrender to it. The landscape, with its magnificence, its ‘immensity,’ and its indifference, imposes its might and its power dynamics. The one who gazes upon it experiences a form of solitude, vulnerability, and inaccessibility: a state that, in many ways, resembles love. Painting the vaporization of love, the vibration that lack can generate, the projection of feelings. Painting emotions far beyond what can be seen. When we are both separated, our landscapes clash and represent the distance between us. From her to me, and vice versa. A form of landscape in love; showing what cannot normally be represented.” Cédrix Crespel Cédrix Crespel’s paintings are a true reflection of his life, a man whose notions of love and sensuality have been constantly questioned and deconstructed. By exploring different representations of femininity, the artist creates a deep connection between his own existence and his art. In his canvases, swirls, vapors, and veils of the visible conceal a secret figuration. It is through subtle details and palpable sensuality that Cédrix Crespel stages his wife Tiphaine, an undeniable presence since the beginning. His love and desire prefer to express themselves in intimacy and modesty. Thus, the artist freezes in his paintings the materiality of flesh and the vivid emotion that accompanies it, creating a dialogue of silence and subtleties. Since 2016, Cédrix Crespel has focused his work on the notion of “correspondence” and the creation of a “new Entity” generated by the couple in art. He thus offers a contemporary and introspective vision of the relationship between art and life, inviting the viewer to get lost in the layers of meaning and emotion in his work. Opening reception: 6-8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 14 To attend the reception, RSVP to rebecca@madisongalleries.com Related links: Madison Gallery website | Instagram | Facebook

  • A familiar rap character, the Cali hustler cruising in a low-rider, has faded in the 21st century. On new albums by G Perico, Mozzy and Gangrene, that figure is alive and well, living in the margins.
