Ho Ho Ho… Can you hear those jingle bells? This year SANTA IS BACK for our annual Little Italy Tree Lighting and Christmas Village on Saturday, December 6 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.! Transforming into a winter wonderland with Christmas twinkle lights down all the streets, our beautiful urban neighborhood will be adorned with 10-foot tall nutcrackers and kinetic tree holiday displays on street corners, Christmas songs and more. Family, friends, and neighbors are invited to come together to experience true holiday joy at this family-friendly event and enjoy the neighborhood’s festive décor—including two Christmas trees, Joshua Hubert’s Aurora tree at Piazza Basilone and the permanent 25-foot tree at Piazza della Famiglia, seasonal vendors, live music and entertainment, holiday treats, a traditional Italian tree lighting ceremony, and this year SANTA IS BACK to grant everyone’s Christmas wishes! You can also enjoy our Christmas Village, located on India Street between W. Cedar and W. Grape Streets, where you’ll find one-of-a-kind stocking stuffers and other holiday gift and artisan vendors and select Little Italy Mercato vendors. This Disability Pride Month, join interdisciplinary artist duo Sensory Dimensions (Casey Hall-Landers & Elicia Neo) for the premiere of "My Body's Wake", a FREE multimedia experience at the City Heights Performance Annex. Through a visceral blend of body painting, live improvisational dance and violin, projection, and generative sound, "My Body's Wake" navigates the emotional terrains of grief, isolation, anger, and care - rooted in the artists' experience with chronic pain and dynamic disability. "Sensory Dimensions" depicts the experiences of disabled people with chronic illness and pain by immersing audiences in multi-sensory environments using a diverse range of artistic modalities to create accessible live art events. Founded by interdisciplinary dancer Casey Hall-Landers and multimedia violinist Elicia Neo through the Berklee NYC Masters program in Creative Media and Technology, the duo is fueled by a passion to create safe and welcoming spaces for all. "Sensory Dimensions" explores and recontextualizes pain through sensory and artistic pathways, using nature as a mirror to understand our bodies and integrating accessible design into their creative work. Moonlight Beach Concert: Lolo Paniolo & Kehulili O Kailani Dancers Toes in the sand--what better way to enjoy a summer concert? Moonlight Beach is the place to be all summer, and twice a month in July and August, the City's Cultural Arts Division brings great performers to the stage. Musical styles vary and may include everything from Latin jazz and country western to reggae and '80s rock. Bands play on a state of the art professional stage in front of a large sandy beach, with plenty of room to move with the music. Sponsorship opportunities are available. Plenty of free parking! Facilitator Bio: Catherine Greitzer is thrilled to teach her first class with The Actor’s Place! She earned her Masters degree and graduated from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts focusing on Theater Arts, costuming and stage makeup. She was a founding member of the PACT Theatre out of New York and Gross National Product Comedy team in Washington DC. She's been a director, actress, production and administrative assistant and an active member of advisory boards. (Somewhere along the line she also earned her MA in Teaching ESL!) Bringing new projects to theatre companies, Catherine has acted as producer, director and Assistant to the Playwright for the award-winning show, "Pushcart Tony" in Chicago. On the West Coast, Catherine has written reviews for several productions including for Carlsbad's New Village Arts. Ms. Greitzer has acted and directed at Oceanside's Brooks Theatre as well as with Fallbrook's Senior Theatre, "AGE Upon Stage." Catherine is SO happy to continue working with adults at FSA's "Readers Theatre" and after school with teens in "ACT UP! A Teen Drama Club."
