Since the former sessions work on learning individual skill sets (think one melody at a time), this class is vital to assist the writer in learning how to use all of the skill sets at once for a first draft (think symphony). It establishes the mood and reveals characters, conflicts, and themes. Settings can shape, influence, and change characters. Detailed descriptions about personal spaces inform the reader about the characters who inhabit them. The setting can even be its own character! This workshop addresses the crucial role of establishing settings for both fiction and non-fiction.
