America's Finest City Half Marathon is one of San Diego's fastest and most scenic half marathons. Run from the Cabrillo National Monument atop the tip of Point Loma, along San Diego Bay, Harbor Island, Embarcadero, past the Star of India, through downtown San Diego to an unforgettable finish in historic Balboa Park. America's Finest City Half Marathon and 5K is a part of In Motion Events' San Diego Foundation SoCal Triple Crown race series, which also includes the Carlsbad Marathon, Half Marathon and 5K, and the GOVX San Diego Half Marathon and 5K. This trio offers a variety of courses and scenery throughout San Diego, providing athletes with a fun and unique running experience in distinct parts of the city and county. Athletes who participate in each race in the same calendar year, no matter the distance they participate in, will be awarded a San Diego Foundation SoCal Triple Crown medal to celebrate their accomplishment of completing the race series. Runners simply register for all three events separately, no additional registration or fee is required to qualify for the San Diego Foundation SoCal Triple Crown finisher award. We offer a 10% military discount to active duty service members. Make sure to answer the questions about military service during registration to receive the discount instructions. Benefiting the Community Since its inception in 1978, The America's Finest City Half Marathon has helped raise important funds for national and local non-profit organizations. The event's primary beneficiaries are the Cabrillo National Monument Foundation and Friends of Balboa Park. The AFC Half Marathon also provides the opportunity for other local charities to raise funds through their association with the event. Course Restrictions Strollers are not allowed in the half marathon, due to a steep downhill on the half marathon course. Strollers are allowed in the 5K but must line up at the back of the pack at the start line. Dogs are not allowed to participate in the race - we ask that you leave your four-legged friends at home. (Members-only) Solo Piano Concert and Reception with Rossina Grieco Wednesday, March 5, 2025 Born and raised in La Jolla, California, Rossina Grieco began piano studies at the age of four. After achieving international recognition within the first few years of her career, the Italo-Shanghainese prodigy and wunderkind made her formal solo debut. At eight years old, Grieco played to a sold-out Copley Hall as the youngest pianist to ever grace its stage with the San Diego Symphony. Critics hailed Grieco as a prodigy “well beyond her years,” citing Grieco as “an absolute star, bringing audiences to their feet.” At age 11, Grieco was accepted at The Juilliard School of Music. During her teen years, she premiered at Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall, with standing ovations for her performance of Chopin’s First Piano Concerto. Grieco continued to tour extensively throughout Europe and Asia. Grieco has received recognition from illustrious artists, such as Gary Graffman (Curtis Institute), Dmitri Bashkirov (Tchaikovsky Competition, Reina Sofia School), Dame Fanny Waterman DBE (Leeds Competition), Gábor Takács-Nagy (Takács Quartet, Verbier Festival), and Yu Long (China Philharmonic). Grieco continued to distinguish herself through remarkable achievements while attending the Glen Gould School for which she was unanimously chosen. Grieco is the longest-standing recipient and only female winner of the Ihnatowycz Prize in piano, an award previously held by Canadian pianist Jan Lisiecki. During her studies, she developed almost 60 hours of solo, chamber, and concerti repertoire while debuting six albums across all streaming platforms. Having signed a two-year contract with British boutique management company Polyphony Arts, Grieco continues her artistic pursuits and is happily married.
