Fun and fast-paced, life drawing is a wonderful way to be in the moment. Learn how to draw the human figure, hone your existing skills, and develop some new ones. This class is for all levels of skill. Materials: Newsprint pad, 18” x 24”; soft vine charcoal; kneaded eraser. You are welcome to bring along any materials not on the list that you already have and would like to use. The instructor will provide some unusual art supplies with which to experiment. Join master printer Sfona Pelah for a two-day etching workshop. Suitable for beginners to advanced, as well as printmakers who want time in the Print Room with support from an expert printmaker. Artists who would like to work in a technique other than etching are also welcome. Materials: Basic etching materials will be provided with a $20 materials fee. You can additionally purchase 6” x 8” etching plates from the instructor for $27 each. Join us for a special concert celebrating the release of Clinton Davis’ second full-length album, “Ever Returning.” Clinton Davis is an old time folk multi-instrumentalist currently based in San Diego. A fifth-generation Kentuckian, Davis grew up in rural Carroll County. His guitar work has earned the praise of Stefan Grossman, who called him “a master…carrying on the traditional music torch of Mike Seeger.” Deering Banjos has called his playing on their instruments “simply sublime.” Joined by fellow multi-instrumentalist Tim McNalley and Ryan Finch, the Clinton Davis Stringband bring a high level of musicianship and artistry to their performances that have made them a perennial favorite on the West Coast. Together, they explore America’s musical past with interpretations that are novel but faithful to tradition. Ravel was the most influential and important French composer of the early 20th century. Known for both dreamy melodies and exhilarating rhythms, his brilliant orchestrations made him world-famous. At 2:30 p.m. Opening of the Louvre with Robin Douglas, Art Expert and Lecturer, Board Member Oceanside Museum of Art. San Diego’s arts community is rallying to support their Los Angeles counterparts who lost studios, homes, and livelihoods in the devastating Pacific Palisades and Altadena wildfires. This spring, Union Hall Gallery will host a two-weekend Fine Art and Craft Sale on Friday, April 4 – Sunday, April 6 and Friday, April 11 – Sunday, April 13, featuring over 400 donated pieces spanning painting, sculpture, ceramics, textiles, and more, to raise funds for the LA art community. One hundred percent of proceeds from the sale will directly benefit the Grief and Hope: LA Art World Fire Relief Fund, providing funds to artists and art workers following the January 2025 fires. Featured in the sale are renowned artists like Italo Scanga, Paula Wittner, James Hubbell, Larry Groff, Margaret Larlham, Jane Culp, and Joe Garcia, alongside emerging voices, university students, tattoo artists, and fiber artists. Inside the 2,500-square-foot space, the sale will feel like an immersive gallery experience, with pieces rotated as they sell—encouraging visitors to return throughout the event. The collection will be eclectic and varied, spanning abstract to realism - surrealism, impressionism, expressionism, fauvism, whimsy, plein-air, ceramics, glass, metalwork, fiber arts, and beyond.
