Rugs have a deep history as a textile art, but also as objects that create space for comfort, thought, and worldbuilding. Using handheld tufting machines, participants can create and design their own rugs using colorful yarn. Learn how to create and translate a design for the medium as well as learn the basics of a tufting machine and begin filling in your designs. This class is perfect for ages 11+ and we kindly ask that adults actively participate in this art activity alongside any child under the age of 11. Learn how to get the most from your colored pencils and explore a variety of techniques, tools and papers to help you achieve stunning results in your drawings! Colored pencils combine the best things from drawing with the best things from painting. In this class, you will learn: how to create highlights and shadows blending fundamentals color scheme fundamentals different styles of drawing with colored pencils how to create realistic art how to capture various textures Students will walk away with a finished drawing or two.
