Art All Ways Projects proudly presents "Driven to Transform: Art, Service, and the Spirit of Giving," a curated exhibition and fundraising initiative in collaboration with the Warrior Foundation Freedom Station and the Vista Library. Opening Saturday, December 9, the exhibition honors the strength, resilience, and creative voices of Southern California veterans while celebrating the transformative power of contemporary art. The exhibition runs until Jan. 17. Curated by Hoojung Lee, Director/Curator of Art All Ways Projects, the exhibition brings together artists whose work explores transformation, humanity, identity, and renewal through bold visual expression. Featured artists include Retna, Salomon Huerta, Ana Morales-Huerta, Justin Bower, Carlos Ramirez, Umar Rashid, Simphiwe Ndzube, Nyame Brown, Jay Sylvester, Ann Bedrick, Ryan Campbell, Cristopher Cichocki, Juan Carlos Muñoz Hernandez (a.k.a. Heaven), and Zes, alongside veteran artists Wm Marquez (a.k.a. Wm Schinsky), Reginald Green, and Steven Dilley from the Southern California veteran art community. The opening reception will feature a live painting activation by acclaimed graffiti artist Juan Carlos Muñoz Hernandez (a.k.a. Heaven), as well as a collaborative “Transformation Table” where veteran artists and contemporary artists will work together on a large, evolving canvas created specifically for this exhibition. These interactive elements invite visitors to witness creativity in motion and experience the exhibition’s theme of transformation firsthand. Through painting, sculpture, and mixed media, Driven to Transform offers visitors a space to reflect on resilience—both personal and collective—while building meaningful bridges between the arts and the veteran community. A portion of the proceeds from artwork sold during the exhibition will benefit the Warrior Foundation Freedom Station, whose mission is to support, empower, and uplift wounded and injured veterans on their path toward recovery and reintegration into civilian life. Award-winning Ovation Theatre proudly presents the fantastical, magical, musical extravaganza "Seussical" opening January 16 in San Marcos. Featuring a whimsical story, energetic musical numbers, and loads of laughs, Seussical brings many of Dr. Seuss’s most beloved characters together in one wonderfully wacky tale. "The Cat in the Hat" tells the story of Horton, an elephant who discovers a speck of dust that contains the Whos, including Jojo, a child sent off to military school for thinking too many “thinks.” Horton faces a double challenge: not only must he protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, but he must guard an abandoned egg left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger, kidnapping and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant. Ovation Theatre on Facebook

OTC at the Brooks presents the world premiere of "Dead Moose"! "Dead Moose" tells the story of Job, an eighteen-year-old who miraculously survives a car accident with a moose. Returning home from the hospital, he begins to reassess his life in a series of non-linear vignettes — grappling with questions of death, fate, and religion. All the while, the nagging voice of the dead moose lingers in his head, pushing and provoking him at every turn. Originally conceived by writer/composer Tyler Tafolla while attending AMDA Los Angeles, "Dead Moose" first introduced audiences to its songs in 2018 at Republic of Pie in Los Angeles. A concert reading was later staged in January 2025 at the City Heights Performance Annex in San Diego, directed by Tafolla and produced by Kevin “Blax” Burroughs. The growing popularity of fast fiction – short stories under 1,000 words in length and sometimes drastically shorter than that – can be attributed to more than the digitalization of content and the shortening of attention spans. In truth, writers and readers alike are discovering that short fiction need not be lesser fiction.
