Join us on Saturday night, November 8, from 6–10 p.m. at Distinction Gallery in Escondido, California, for the opening reception of “Seasons Changing,” a group exhibition curated by ViralBoa. This free, all-ages event invites the public to experience an evening of art, live music, and community. For more than 20 years, Distinction Gallery has been a beacon of the Southern California art scene, specializing in representational painting—ranging from surrealism and realism to figurative works. ViralBoa, one of the gallery’s represented artists, has hand-selected an exceptional group of creators for this show, featuring Cherry Gunk, Kai Lun Qu, Ivan Flores, Kate Kennedy, Nonie Cruzado, Eric Johnson and Cole Mattingly. Guests aged 21 and over can also enjoy drinks available for purchase from Last Spot Bar during the event. Last Spot Bar has a curated selection of wine, beer, sake, cider and non-alcoholic options. The rest of the gallery will be open for view during the reception and guests are encouraged to explore all of the exhibits. This body of work explores the unintended beauty found in convex security mirrors, those circular sentinels fixed to corners, ceilings, and alleyways. Captured in stark black and white, these 80 photographs are not just reflections of the physical world, but portals into the unnoticed layers of modern life. Framed by the curve of the mirror, the city folds into itself, distorted, duplicated, isolated. In every image, I invite the viewer to pause, to see not just what is reflected, but how we are reflected. These mirrors do not protect or judge; they simply witness. Through this project, I am asking a quiet question: When we see ourselves being seen, what is revealed? Why choose The Metta Space to feature your art collection? The Heritage of the Americas Museum is excited to present the “Artist Studio Art Clearance Sale,” a special holiday exhibit and sale featuring the acclaimed work of Duke Windsor. Helix, California. His work encompasses urban landscapes, still life, portraiture, and historical themes, rendered in oil, acrylic, watercolor, and sculpture. Trinity Theatre Company is thrilled to announce their Grown Up Stage’s production of "IFs (Imaginary Friends)" by Thomas J. Misuraca running from November 28th - December 14th. The production is directed by Mia Spencer. "IFs (Imaginary Friends)" runs at Trinity’s Mission Valley location in the Mission Valley Mall. She laments with her other recently released imaginary friends, knowing unless something changes, they’ll cease to exist. When their peer Dab, confesses that he’s been hanging out with an older woman who can see him, the others want to meet her. Bea ends up only able to see Pippin, but introduces them to some of her senior friends, and all but one imaginary friend now have real friends once again. But dealing with older friends has its challenges. Bea’s daughter, Jenna, is overly concerned for her mother. Even more so after Bea breaks her hip while “playing” with her friends. As Bea’s health continues to decline, her friends must fight for their rights as older folks. Trinity Theatre Artistic Director, Sean Boyd shared “We are big fans of Thomas Miscuraca’s work at Trinity Theatre Company and have shared a number of his pieces over the years including 'The Stark Truth of Humanity' and 'A Good Game.' In April of this year - we presented a staged reading of 'IFs (Imaginary Friends)' in our third annual New Works Festival. This wonderfully heartfelt and moving piece was so strong and well received - that we wanted to see it really on its feet - and programmed it into our season. It is thrilling to be a part of the trajectory of the development of exciting new work. We look forward to sharing 'IFs (Imaginary Friends)' with our community.” Playwright Thomas J. Other Places art fair (OPaf) is heading south for the first time. The inaugural OPaf South, co-presented with San Diego-based Harvest & Gather, will transform the California Center for the Arts, Escondido into a day-long meeting ground for artists, ideas, and neighbors on Saturday, Oct. 25, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is free, with a suggested $5 donation to sustain future programming. Since 2017, OPaf has championed unconventional and underrepresented artists, artist-run spaces, and art programming that resists the constraints of the traditional art world. OPaf South extends this ethos to new terrain, creating an inclusive, outdoor–indoor platform for artists of all backgrounds and socioeconomic statuses. This first edition will feature over thirty booths and installations from local, regional, and international participants, as well as performances, readings, talks.
