The three authors will discuss their historical novel "The Casebook of Qing and Xmucane," wherein Qing, a young officer in the Chinese Imperial Navy journeys to Mexico with the fleet of Admiral Zheng He in the early 15th century of the Roman calendar. He meets Xmucane, an elderly shamaness living on the outskirts of the Tarascan empire. Together they form a formidable pair of investigators, solving crimes large and small. The process of writing historical fiction, the characters and themes of the story, and the joys and complications of being a team of authors who have known each other for a long time will be discussed. The traveling party, led by a festive New Orleans-style brass Euphoria Brass Band and will include stops at a diverse mix of local businesses, with drink and food specials and other fun activities along the way. 11 a.m. – Festivities will kick off at Seek Brewing – 3052 El Cajon Boulevard, San Diego CA 92104 Noon – 2nd Line Procession, lead by Euphoria Brass Band. In this workshop, we will guide you step-by-step through the hand knitting process to create a super cozy, one-of-a-kind blanket. Make one for you or one as a gift! The blanket requires no needles or knitting experience! All materials are provided. You will receive enough chunky chenille yarn to make an (approximately) 40" x 50" blanket.
