Jorge Mendoza Unveils "Everything is Energy” a Solo Exhibit at the Mandell Weiss Gallery Opening May 2, 2025, running through September 5, 2025 San Diego, CA — "Everything is energy." Born in Mexico City (CDMX) and raised in Santa Cruz, California, Jorge Mendoza is a multidisciplinary artist whose work spans borders and mediums. Over the past 12 years, he has lived and worked in San Diego and Tijuana, expanding his artistic practice through screen printing, woodcuts, ceramics, installation, sign painting, murals, photography, art organizing, and curating. As a largely self-taught artist, Jorge embraces exploration, experimentation, and lifelong learning, continuously evolving through travel and new creative experiences. His artistic reach extends from San Francisco to Todos Santos, Baja California, and throughout Mexico City. His latest exhibition delves into the unseen, posing the question: How can we visualize what we cannot see? Through experimental mixed media, and layers of acrylic and oil on canvas, Jorge seeks to capture invisible forces, translating raw energy into tangible, evocative art. The exhibition also features a video installation—a compilation of short films documenting the creation of his murals. Currently, Jorge is in residence in Tijuana, where he hosts creative gatherings, welcoming visitors to experience his work and engage with the vibrant cultural landscape of the city. The "Everything is Energy" opening will be an immersive event featuring an event collaboration with the San Diego Ballet, celebrating its 35th season. She has a master’s degree in painting in Kharkiv State Academy of Design and Art, where she studied at the portrait-genre workshop under the guidance of professors Victor Chaus and Vasily Ganotskiy. Among her many accolades, she has been a curator of the Drawing Studio at the National Union of Artists of Ukraine in Zaporizhzhia. In 2017 she opened a studio of academic painting ‘V-ART’ and taught painting, drawing, plastic anatomy, coloring, and composition at the collegiate level. In 2022, she was evacuated to the USA due to the war in Ukraine. Over the past 2 years she has created around 300 paintings, and takes part in art shows throughout San Diego. “I think it is, like musical notes, that in painting, we do not have borders, we do not have words, and we have Inspiration… Pure Inspiration is indescribable; you can just feel and take it. That’s precisely why I would like to share these paintings, which were created in San Diego County and reflect the light and landscapes that inspire me every day. The La Jolla Art & Wine Festival (LJAWF) returns to the heart of La Jolla on Saturday, October 11, and Sunday, Oct. 12, 2025. This free, family-friendly weekend features over 170 juried artists from across the U.S. and Mexico, showcasing stunning works in painting, sculpture, jewelry, glass, ceramics, woodwork, photography, and more. This year’s featured artist is Gregg “Viz” Visintainer, known for his bold, detailed pen-and-ink illustrations. Art lovers, wine enthusiasts, and craft beverage fans alike will find plenty to enjoy, with a ticketed wine and beer garden featuring over 35 top-tier wineries, local breweries, and craft distilleries. The festivities also include the Geppetto’s Toys Family Art Center, a two-day silent auction, pet adoption stations, and live music and entertainment for all ages. The Sweetwater Woman’s Club is bringing some early holiday spirit to the South Bay—hosting its 57th Annual Holiday Craft Show. This craft show will feature nearly two dozen local artisans and small businesses selling their goods and products—ornaments and decor, jewelry, quilts, soaps, baked goods, silent auction items, and raffle dozens of gifts donated from local businesses—to fundraise for local scholarships. Each year the Club gives a scholarship to a deserving senior from each of the high schools in the Sweetwater Union High School District.
