Enjoy a night of art and dancing fueled by the artistry of Los Angeles-based artist Cami Árboles and inspired by current exhibition "Women in Focus." This powerful exhibition demonstrates the pivotal role women have played in photography since its invention in the 1830s, showcasing diverse perspectives on identity, autonomy, and representation. The night will feature a captivating performance that brings together yoga, flexibility, and dance combined with opera singing to showcase the power and versatility of the female form. Árboles’ performance piece draws directly from the themes of "Women in Focus," reimagining them through embodied gestures that speak to resilience, sensuality, and the multiplicity of womanhood. Come for the live performance, stay for the full experience. Enjoy a drink from the cash bar, take a stroll through the exhibition, and stay to dance and let loose with music by DJs. Cami Árboles is a multidisciplinary artist and movement educator born and raised in Los Angeles. She is a graduate of Yale University, where she studied and trained extensively in classical voice, opera, and live performance. Her background in vocal performance and physical theater deeply informs her current work, which explores the body as a site of ritual, resistance, and transformation. Árboles is the founder of Mind Body Spirit Collective (MBSC), an international movement platform centering pole dance, yoga, and somatic healing through community. This exhibition will explore art that has emerged from the surf-culture lifestyle and surfing’s influence on artists. Everyone who has experienced the feeling of riding a wave understands just how hard it is to describe that incredible sensation, referred to as “stoke”. It seems that only through creative self-expression can surfer-artists capture the essence of stoke and the inspiration that can be found between the surfer and the wave. Artists who surf may take this creative energy in many directions and may explore subjects outside of surfing and surf culture. This joint exhibition will feature a variety of media, from traditional art making methods to works in resin, murals, surfboards, graphic art, sculpture, or fabric, all with the goal to convey the creative power that all artists experience, on or off the wave. By end of the semester, you will have learned to design beautiful and professional looking arrangements for both everyday and special occasions.
