Monday, February 17 from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. Ages 4-6 welcome! Taught by artist & designer Christine Gilpin, your preschool age child will explore collaging, color theory, sewing, weaving and fiber arts in our studio. We will explore through sensory activities, crafts and stories while developing fine motor skills. Littles learn best by doing and playing. We practice handwork and workplay. We “play” with natural objects and materials. Each project is planned so that children build skills while satisfying their need to explore. Projects are safe, non-toxic, and full of creativity. It’s important that your child bring water in a refillable bottle and a snack (no candy or peanut products please) in case they are hungry or thirsty during this time. In addition, if your child is enrolled in a nearby camp elsewhere in Liberty Station in the afternoon, and their camp begins as ours ends, we are happy to walk your child to their next camp. The entire Point Loma community is invited to make their unique mark on a community mural in this workshop where participants will learn about pattern-making from muralist and public artist, Molly Z, and then participate in creating a community mural that will be on display at Point Loma Church. This is a one-day intensive workshop focusing on painting flowers alla prima. Students will learn about composition by designing and setting up a floral still life. We will take a closer look at the structure of flowers and techniques for painting them. A fun, fast study, and an excellent opportunity to develop painting skills and study floral painting in depth. The workshop will conclude with group critique. For oil painters of all levels.
