Plotting the Novel: While your characters are the beating heart of your novel, your plot is its bones. Whether you are an outliner or someone who works on the fly, this basic architecture (the novel’s skeleton, so to speak) cannot be neglected. In this six-week workshop, we will work on understanding the essential plot requirements of a good story, and work on building a good strong supporting structure for your novel. Students will need to purchase “To Kill A Mockingbird” by Harper Lee. Please note: Though this class is offered as part of the Novel Writing Certificate Program, there is no pre-requisite to join this class. The Panama–California Exposition was an exposition held in San Diego between January 1, 1915, and January 1, 1917. The exposition celebrated the opening of the Panama Canal, and was meant to tout San Diego as the first U.S. port of call for ships traveling north after passing westward through the canal.
