  • Pundemonium is back - but this time, we're taking it outside! We're bringing Pundemonium to the one and only Oasis Patio bar in Pacific Beach. Watch, laugh, groan, or join word nerds from across the city in a battle to see who's the punniest of them all—and win a coveted Golden Nugget chicken trophy! "Pundemonium!" is a two-part event based on the format used by pun contests in cities nationwide: - In Part 1, Battle of the PUNdits, participants who have signed up in advance will deliver two-minute pun-filled speeches on a topic of their choice, and the audience will determine the winner. Want in? We ask that Battle of the PUNdits let us know you're competing ahead of time by emailing sandiegopundemonium@gmail.com - or email us with questions if you're curious but don't know how it works! - Part 2, the PUNger Games, is a head-to-head pun-off tournament-style, where participants go back and forth making puns on a given topic until they just can't anymore. Think of it as a rap battle, but with puns. Sign up in advance at sandiegopundemonium@gmail.com OR on the spot at Pundemonium! Want more puns in your life? Don't be chicken, follow us on Instagram, mothercluckers. That's where you can see examples of pun speeches and watch past PUNger games battles, too.
  • At the 2025 San Diego International Fringe Festival, a contemporary dance performance packs a powerful, contemplative punch, reflecting on the unrealistic standards placed on women — from beauty to perfection — while also recognizing whose voices are often excluded from these stories.

  • Presented by the San Diego Black Artist Collective, the festival features dance, poetry, play readings, gospel music and more through Sunday.
  • Brainstory’s new album Sounds Good, simply put, lives up to its name. Based in L.A. but hailing from the Inland Empire's own Rialto, CA, two-thirds of Brainstory, Kevin and Tony Martin are brothers by blood, while Eric Hagstrom is a brother through their music and long term friendship. While the group's initial connection comes from the heady mixture of jazz-performance-focused music school and the grind of playing local shows, their bond has been strengthened through countless hours on the road touring and the making of two studio records—2019’s debut full-length, Buck, followed by 2021’s Ripe EP. "Being on the road, doing our own tours, and backing incredible people like Lady Wray, has sharpened our skills and really revved us up for this record," Kevin says. "It's been four years since our last full length record, and with everything that's happened since, it's like we've been catching up to ourselves." That's one way to describe change: catching up to oneself. Each member of Brainstory has gone through shifts, both personally and musically, and all of that thread through this record. Since they started the band they have constantly faced situations that forced them to rise to the occasion. They got signed to Big Crown Records, they stepped up their game. Covid happened, they learned to record themselves. They started touring a ton sharing the stage with the likes of Lady Wray and they got their live show super tight. All of this time spent grinding and growing has certainly paid off. The path to take their art to the next level is clearer than ever and once again, they are here for it. If there is one thing that is abundantly clear on this album, it’s that Brainstory leveled up. • This workshop is free thanks to the Tah Dah! Foundation. Unleash your creativity with bead-making and 3D design! Dive into the world of creating intricate patterns and mesmerizing kaleidoscope designs using colorful polymer clay. By crafting "canes" through rolling, cutting, and slicing, you'll learn the art of pattern and sculptural design on a smaller scale. This process is perfect for crafting small items and unique jewelry pieces that showcase your individual style. But what exactly are clay canes? Imagine those candies with tiny images inside or clay pieces that seem to have images embedded within them - that's the magic of cane making! It involves constructing a larger image with your material and then condensing it into a long cane shape. When sliced, the image is revealed in a smaller format, creating stunning visual effects. Canes can range from simple to complex, easy to challenging, and can be manipulated in countless ways. Whether you prefer geometric designs or intricate picture canes, the possibilities are endless. Get ready to explore the exciting world of clay canes and let your imagination run wild! 8 - 18+ years - We kindly ask that adults actively participate in this art activity alongside any child under the age of 11.
