This exhibition serves as the capstone project for MiraCosta College’s Museum Studies program. Students in the program have developed, researched, curated, publicized, and installed this exhibition as part of their coursework in Art 271, Museum and Gallery Exhibition. These innovative student curators collaborated to create a cohesive show. This exhibition provides a unique opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in museum and gallery operations, as well as in curatorial practices. The result is an impressive display that highlights their skills and creativity in curation. Celebrate Mother’s Day weekend with us at the opening reception of "The Art of Abstraction," an exhibition of contemporary artists curated by the Coronado Art Association. The exhibit will be on display in the Spreckels Reading Room. Enjoy an afternoon of inspiring artwork, light refreshments, and live guitar music. As a special treat, artists Nancy Plank and Tina Christiansen will offer quick-draw portraits—creating free take-home sketches for a few moms randomly selected during the event.
